Mass media in Morocco: the actual state.

During the first decade of the twenty first century, the mass medias in Morocco have been widely developed, mainly by the emergence of the web 2.0 and also by the privatization of the sectors of Journalism and radio broadcasting. Then, in the last ten years we had a diversity of media that we would have never dreamed about by the end of the 90s.
In the newspapers field, we can remark the emergence of the private companies and the end of the monopoly of the politically-affiliated newspapers. This was a real revolution in Morocco as the public could have at least some objective news to read. Furthermore, some newspapers have seen in this action an evolution of the freedom of speech in the country, and they dared to talk about some social/political taboos.
Talking about the radio station field, it was a revolution as well. We witnessed the emergence of regional private radio stations. For example, the group MFM has invested in some regional stations so that they can deliver specific content to the listeners (Casa FM, Marrakech FM, MFM Sais...). Furthermore, we can also remark the emergence of new private radios on the national scale. In fact, we passed from one on the 90s to a dozen nowadays.
For the Television part, we can see the emergence of thematic channels. In fact, the SNRT, has diversified its offer by creating some new channels that can be classed according to their themes. In fact there are mainly 8 Channels  ( AlAoula: General, 2M: General , Arriadia: Sports , Arrabia : General Knowledge+Science ,Almaghribia : General (for the Moroccans Residing Abroad), the Mohammed VI channel : Coran and religion, the 7th : Cinema, The Eight broadcasting in Amazigh). We can also notice the shy participation for the private sector by one Channel that started as a news broadcasting channel then switched to general purpose : Medi1TV.
For the internet, the rate of penetration is 2% (http://www.leconomiste.com/article/le-taux-de-penetration-dinternet-au-maroc-est-de-2) which is really low. We don't have interesting User Generated content, except some blogs. However, the numbers in that sector are really growing fast.
