Internet: how much of a mass communication tool is it really ?

i came across some interesting statistics that shows how much massive of a communication tool the Internet is. As of December 31,2011, the total worldwide population was of 6 930 055 145 people. 32.7% of the population has CONSTANT access to the internet, which is tremendous, which represents 2 267 233 472 people. For comparaison, only 360 985 492 persons were active internet users in 2000, which now represents a growth of 582.1%. Interestingly enough, although the largest amount of people is beleived to be in America, it is a false rumor, as Asia takes the biggest part of the "market" with 44.8% of the total internet users, followed by Europe 22.1% then North America, 12%. Africa "only" represents 6.2%, but it is already a enormous amount.
